Phototherapy
Phototherapy or light therapy is a treatment approach to various skin conditions, including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis (eczema), vitiligo, and mycosis fungoides. It involves exposing the skin to ultraviolet light, which is part of natural sun light.
Typically, phototherapy is administered two to three time weekly for several weeks to achieve optimal benefit.
Two types of phototherapy are offered in our office: Narrow band ultra violet light B or PUVA (Psoralen - medication that sensitizes your skin to light + Ultra Violet light A) therapy. Successful treatment with light requires consistent participation.
